"We Need Resignations, De-Selections and Prosecutions"

- Call to Face-up to Political Corruption

Following revelations over the expenses scandal in Parliament, campaigners for the
Christian Party Christian Peoples Alliance party are demanding that there should be resignations of
MPs, deselections of sitting MPs before the next general election and for the police to
conduct an investigation into illegal activities.

Speaking at a meeting for Christian politicians across all the parties at one of London's
biggest churches, CPA Party Leader, Councillor Alan Craig, said:

"The corruption evident at Westminster reflects a deeper, spiritual malaise within our
party system. The further our parties have turned their backs on God, the more detached
our MPs appear to be from any sense of moral culpability. In recent sessions, these
members of Parliament have approved a series of immoral laws. They have become
morally bankrupt. It is no surprise this moral corruption has now turned to real financial
corruption - the pocketing of unjustified expenses and a collective laughing at the public."

The Christian Party Christian Peoples Alliance wants fraudulent claims to be repaid by MPs. It also wants
prosecutions and subsequent by-elections. The party is also calling on the party constituency
chairs of guilty MPs to de-select politicians so that their political careers are ended.

Campaigning with the Christian Party for the European elections, candidates for the CPA
have pledged to investigate salaries paid to serving MEPs. Earlier this year, a leaked
internal report by auditors for the EU revealed systematic abuses by MEPs. Misallocation
of parliamentary allowances enables them to pocket more than £1million from a single five
-year term. This year, an inflation-busting pay rise could see their take-home pay rise by
almost 50 per cent.
